Now accepting patients. Dr. Zara Akhter welcomes referrals to Peel Eye Care for community-based medical eye care.

While patients do not need a referral to see us, knowing where to go for eye care can be confusing. We welcome direct referrals to help your patients reach our clinic and receive appropriate assessment, follow-up and coordinated care.

• Diabetes: Diabetic eye examinations and retinal health monitoring.
• Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil): Retinal screening and monitoring, with additional testing or ophthalmology assessment arranged when indicated.
• Sjögren’s syndrome: Dry eye and ocular surface assessment and management, coordinated with the patient’s medical team where appropriate.
• Red eye and suspected uveitis: Assessment of ocular inflammation, with ophthalmology referral when indicated. Please call for urgent concerns rather than relying on routine referral processing.
• Eye infections and allergies: Assessment and management within optometric scope, with specialist referral when needed.
• MTO vision testing: Driving-related vision assessments and visual field testing. Please include any relevant MTO forms or requirements if available.

Our clinic uses OCT, retinal imaging and visual field testing when clinically indicated. We work with ophthalmology and other healthcare providers when further investigation or treatment is needed.
